Sam Cooke was a trailblazing American soul singer, songwriter, and entrepreneur. He began singing in his teenage years, performing with local gospel groups and eventually joining the Soul Stirrers in 1950. He was a successful entrepreneur, founding his own record label, SAR Records, and management company, Kags Music.
