Miles Davis was born on May 26, 1926, in Alton, Illinois, to Miles Henry Davis and Cleota Mae Henry. He started playing the trumpet at the age of 13 and attended East St. Louis Lincoln High School before moving to New York City to study at Juilliard. Davis's early career was marked by his association with Charlie Parker and the development of bebop, a style of jazz characterized by fast tempos and complex harmonies. In the late 1940s, Davis began to develop his own unique style. The 1950s and 1960s were a period of great creativity and innovation for Davis, who continued to push the boundaries of jazz with his experiments in different styles.
